Splice Soundscapes Migration WAV

Migration is an ambitious and deeply moving sample pack created by composers and field recordists Susie Ibarra and Jake Landau. Over the past three years, they have documented bird migration routes stretching from Sub-Saharan Africa through Morocco, Spain, France, Germany, and up to the Baltic Sea, transforming these soundscapes into a one-of-a-kind musical collection.

At its heart, Migration captures not only the beauty of avian movement but also the fragility of these patterns in the face of climate change. With warming temperatures, drought, and the expansion of the Sahara altering migratory paths, the calls of species like the chaffinch, chiffchaff, corn bunting, nightingale, flamingo, and great tit become both music and memory—snapshots of a world in flux.

Recorded across UNESCO sites such as Doñana National Park (Spain) and Jasmund National Park (Germany) using high-fidelity DPA KIT-4060-OC-SMK equipment, the collection blends untouched ambient field recordings of bird calls with experimental transformations. Expect:

  • Natural ambiences of migratory bird songs

  • Synth and drum instruments sculpted from birdsong

  • Acoustic drum loops infused with natural textures

  • Sensory percussion triggering bird calls

Whether used as raw soundscapes or as the basis for experimental compositions, Migration provides 250 unique samples that bring the natural world directly into your studio.

Take a skyward journey through Africa, Spain, and the Baltic Sea—and let the sounds of migration inspire movement, emotion, and new sonic possibilities.
