Embertone Walker 1955 Concert D Lite v1.1.1j KONTAKT

An absurdly sampled piano representing what many consider to be the pinnacle of pianos: the Steinway D Concert Grand.

36 Velocity Layers Per Pedal

We went crazy recording 36 velocity layers per every pedal combination, allowing for smooth dynamic performance across the entire range thanks to the ‘re-performance’ technology that this piano is equipped with. From the heart of the interface, dial-in the preferred amount of velocity layers for the perfect balance between performance and accuracy.

One Piano For All

Easily bend this piano to your musical will! There are a bunch of simple ways to alter the tone and feel of this vintage Steinway. In addition to alternate mic positions, curated controls and snapshot presets allow you to adapt to any style from jazz, classical, cinematic, pop, and beyond.

Additional Mic Positions

The default mic position is a beautiful stereo pair located at the lip of the piano for a nice balance of intimacy and space, but there are multiple microphone positions for finding the right sound.

Five additional mics are individually available as separate expansions should you decide to add them later, or bundle with the full instrument at a discount.

Make It Yours

Adjust crucial parameters to change how the piano performs under your fingers. Fine-tune response curves to fit the action of your keyboard controller, tweak nuanced humanization elements, or alter things in ways not possible on a real piano.

Standout Features

  • A One-of-a-Kind Instrument
The Steinway we sampled is equipped with a custom system for re-performance, developed by John Q Walker and Zenph Sound Innovations. This is what allowed us to record so many samples with such precision.
  • Real Pedal Samples
We captured every possible variation across sustain pedal, una corda pedal, and sans pedal. All real samples. Often overlooked in other piano libraries; Sans Pedal samples are triggered when playing without pedaling.
  • Variable Velocities
Conveniently dial-in the right amount of dynamic resolution with the Velocity knob. This is particularly helpful in situations where processing power is limited, or if you want to push your performance to the max.
  • 6 Microphone Positions
The default mic position is a beautiful stereo pair located at the lip of the piano for a nice balance of intimacy and space, but there are multiple microphone positions for finding the right sound. Each one can be purchased ‘a la carte’ – take a listen in the demo section.
  • High Resolution Response
We went crazy recording 36 velocity layers per every pedal combination, allowing for highly-accurate and smooth dynamic performance. In addition, dynamics are faithfully balanced across the entire range thanks to this piano’s state-of-the-art ‘re-performance’ technology.
  • Adaptive Releases
Most virtual pianos have a single static set of release samples triggered the same way no matter how you play a note. Instead, we make use of 10,000+ release samples recorded at various lengths and dynamics – intelligently triggered based on string energy upon lifting a key.
  • Dedicated Staccato Samples
There’s something amazing about real staccato samples… the way the mechanisms react and then a subtle sense of space is created. Although the instrument is able to do a good job at actively performing short notes thanks to the Adaptive Releases; we captured a special set of staccatos.
  • Sympathetic Resonance
The instrument simulates the behavior of string energy during and after damper release, allowing realistic transitions between Sans and Sus Ped articulations. Three modes for selecting the quality of this feature are located within the Details page and share association with the Half-Pedaling feature.
  • Half-Pedaling
As part of the Sympathetic Resonance engine; realistically perform incremental dampening using a compatible pedal or via MIDI programming. This allows you to partially “blur” tones and create more subtle phrasing… the pedal is no longer simply on or off.
