Moment Blip Pop, a Junior Astronaut moment WAV FXP
Junior Astronaut is the artist moniker of Chicago-based producer, engineer, and acoustician Nathan Tipton, whose mission is to explore sound from every angle. With a background in bioacoustics, digital signal processing, and loudspeaker modeling, combined with extensive musical training, Tipton creates a playful yet informed world of sonic exploration. They’ve collaborated with Giant Claw, Holly Waxwing, Ari Liloia, and their sibling Galen Tipton, consistently crafting soundscapes where new sounds spark new emotion, offering pathways toward greater emotional granularity and self-understanding.
‘Blip Pop’ is an exploration of this sonic sandbox, with guitar at its core. Drawing inspiration from a wave of pedal-driven, internet-era guitarists, the pack weaves boutique multi-FX hardware, creative chops, and guitar-tapping techniques across genres like glitch pop, midwest emo, and brainscratch. The result is a rich palette of bubbly soundscapes, stringy textures, and ear-catching sonic surprises—all designed to expand the possibilities of guitar in contemporary music.
