Omar Francis has been a cornerstone of the Kingston music scene for over three decades. His career spans performances with backing bands at legendary festivals such as Reggae Sunsplash and Sumfest, sharing stages with iconic Jamaican artists including Toots Hibbert, Barrington Levy, and Ken Booth. He has also toured internationally with the reggae band Rootz Underground, gaining a deep, firsthand understanding of reggae music in all its forms.
Driven by a lifelong passion for jazz, rock, blues, and global musical traditions, Francis has never been content to remain in one stylistic lane. Today, he serves as a guitar instructor at the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts and the Alpha Music Institute. He is also one of the founding organizers of The Jam Is Back, a long-running and influential jam session within Kingston’s live music scene.
