SampleScience – Nu Guzheng Chinese Instrument WIN MAC

SampleScience offers a free Nu Guzheng AU / VST plugin download for Windows and Mac. It is a virtual instrument that simulates the authentic sound of the Chinese string Guzheng (plucked zither). It is built on samples recorded in high quality 32-bit audio at 44.1 kHz. Able to bring elements of Chinese folk culture and new colors to your music. Sounds clean and authentic.

The GUI is similar to Rusty Piano , another Sample Science tool we reviewed recently. It looks good and, more importantly, is easy to use.

The multi-LFO is adjustable and controlled with the center drop spoilers and the depth / speed controls on the left. There are drop-down menus for LFO waveform, signal and source. In the middle there are selectors such as filter (high-pass and low-pass), polyphony and velocity curve.

There are three voice modes available: polyphonic, monophonic and legato. Since Guzheng can be a very delicate instrument, playing with the Velocity Curve parameters helps you get the most out of it.

On the right are the controls for panning, volume, reverb, and clipping. At the bottom are the ADSR control knobs, preamp and smooth slide controls.

Below we have inserted a small sound sample that demonstrates the sound of the Nu Guzheng plugin.
