Sound Doctrine The Mass Choir WAV

Sound Doctrine presents The Mass Choir, a release highlighting and paying homage to the exhilarating tradition and history of gospel mass choirs that can be traced back to the evolution of African American gospel music in the United States. These choirs, known for their rich harmonies, powerful vocals, and energetic performances, have roots in the spirituals and hymns sung by enslaved Africans and evolved through church traditions in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

The Mass Choir Movement could be seen through the 1960’s-1980’s, distinguished by their large size and theatrical performances, becoming prominent during the civil rights era. Groups like the Chicago Mass Choir and the Mississippi Mass Choir emerged, blending traditional gospel with contemporary sounds and often performing at larger venues and recording albums.

This pack features voices from Tabernacle of Prayer Revival Center, in New York led and directed by Jairus McNeill with music composition and creation from GRAMMY award-winning producer and label co-founder Joel McNeill.
