Splice Explores Water Rhythms WAV

Water Rhythms is a hybrid sound pack of water and drums created by Susie Ibarra (composer, percussionist, sound artist) and recorded with sound engineers Jake Landau and Eli Crews. Susie explores this constantly evolving soundscape through field recordings, acoustic drums, percussion, and Sunhouse sensory percussion to capture the beautiful natural rhythms within our freshwater ecosystems.

These field recordings come from the sound archive of her collaborative art and science project, Water Rhythms: Listening to Climate Change with Michele Koppes (climate scientist, geographer). They have collected recordings in some of the world’s most important water towers, the Indian Himalayas, Northwest Coast Mountains, and the Greenland Ice Sheet.

A portion of this pack’s royalties will be donated to support The Joudour Sahara Music Program located in M’hamid el Ghizlane, an oasis town in the historic southern Draa River Valley in the deserts of southeastern Morocco. Joudour Sahara’s mission is to preserve and promote the rich cultural heritage of the region while enriching the lives of youth through music education, holding weekly music classes among the Chamra, Ganga, Ahidous, and Rokba music traditions.
